Detailers Open day

On Saturday 6th May saw our most recent open day, 25 competition winners (mostly auto detailers) came to our head office in Hull to meet Richard and the team and see where the magic happens.

With people coming from literally every corner of England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales it was clear to see before the day, that serious people were making a serious effort to attend.

Although it was set for a 10am start many arrived before that and it soon became a hive of conversation and a fair few cases of “putting faces to names” as many people have been part of forums and Facebook groups and commented on each other’s posts but never had an opportunity to meet in person.

After introductions, the day started by watching videos and live demonstrations to identify all different types of leather, although this was only a one day “look at life” event, we still aimed to give them all the very best understanding of leather possible, with such a short space of time. We know not all of them have or even will use our products and that wasn’t our intention, but we did at least want to open their eyes up to just how much variety there is out there and the possible damage that can be caused without knowing just some of the basics.

Even if they didn’t manage to take in every type of leather it became apparent by the jaws on the floor that most appreciated just how many types there is, and the possible disasters out there!!

Throughout the day, we covered everything from how to clean (we used our new demo car), how to repair scuffs, even how to remove and reapply colour and all the additional products to do the job. Hands on efforts by most soon made them realise just how accessible the skills are and how easy it can be with the right equipment and products.

It was a great day with a great bunch of people, we had many questions and even more laughs! With a quick talk at the end of the day about trade from our Business Manager Callum, that pretty much wrapped the day up and everybody was then able to start their mammoth return journeys with one of our free goody bags which contained a bottle of pretty much everything they need to practice at home what they learned with us.

At leather Repair Company, we strongly advocate opening our doors to all, letting them see exactly what we do and how we do it, and, the fact that they, and you can do it too. We often host trainees wishing to learn more skills on one of our IMI approved courses.

Our courses can be found on our website at

We will of course be holding more open days in the future so keep an eye out for details!
